FUSIA DANCE COMPANY

Fusia Dance Company Mission

FUSIA DANCE CO. was founded on a passion for dancing with purpose. Through FDC, our students experience a positive educational program that fosters the whole child from dance technique to mental and physical wellbeing. Fusia Dance Company represents dance in the Monroe County for young aspiring dancers who seek the pre-professional experience of life as a performer. Art, poetry, and multimedia are other mediums used by the company to further explore the unity of all art and expression. The company also aids in bringing dance awareness to the community through educational outreach, community fundraisers for organizations such as American Cancer Society, Habitat for Humanity, the United Way and more!

What’s New For FDC?

We are also elated to announce that Fusia Dance Company has received a grant from The Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts to pursue our WEMOVE project. WEMOVE was created as a way to tackle young adults mental health complications and create a safe space for them to dig further into identifying their own unique identity. WEMOVE’s residency program was developed with the guidance of Dr. Jessica Meister, a clinical neuropsychologist based in New York City specializing in the evaluation of children, adolescents, and young adults. Through Dr. Meister’s consultations, WEMOVE has been developed to bridge movement and proven clinical practices to act as a new informative way for students to find their own identity.

FDC Opportunities

  • FDC Annual Performance

Fusia Dance Company has an annual performance where dancers are invited to share all that they’ve worked on throughout the year, showcasing works created with their weekly teachers and outside artists. The annual show gives them a chance to show how they’ve grown as both artists and people. The performance is open to the public and also features both lighting and set production within our own studio.

  • Student Choreography Concert

Our annual student choreography concert allows our company dancers to create their own work and share it in a professional setting. The choreography concert allows students to build character, confidence, and identity. The concert has also been held within our own black box theater right at the studio. Being a part of the production of the whole evening is also a great educational experience and professional tool our students gain from the program.

  • Big Sister/ Big Brother Program

The big sister/brother program acts as a way to support the younger dancers throughout the year. Activities including sitting together during rehearsals, master classes, and performances, making cards for the holidays, and acting as mentors to each other.

  • Community Events

Company dancers perform at local community events throughout the year. Events include Relay for Life, Shawnee Riverfest, Big Brother/Big Sister Telethon, American Red Cross Telethon, The Garden of Giving, St. Luke’s Festival, St. Matthew’s Festival, Our lady of Victory Church Bazaar, Pocono Great Talent Event and more.

  • Annual Gala/Awards Banquet

The annual gala and awards banquet is a dinner to celebrate FDC, and give positive recognition for dancers' hardwork and growth. The annual family dinner will also act as a fundraiser for the company.
